Coiled tubing is designed to improve the well and reservoir performance and it is used for a wide range of oil field services including but not limited to drilling, logging, wellbore cleanouts, fracture stimulation, nitrogen kickoff, sand control, well circulation, cementing, underreaming, fishing, completion and production.

Coiled tubing is often used to carry out operations similar to wireline. The main benefits over wireline are the ability to pump chemicals through the coil and the ability to push it into the hole rather than relying on gravity.
